Number Three: Saints Plan to Keep Winston Beyond 2020

This whole starting Taysom Hill over Jameis Winston scenario could all simply be the Saints playing chess instead of checkers.

The Saints saw their backup quarterback from the last two seasons Teddy Bridgewater sign a three-year contract worth $63 million with the Carolina Panthers this past offseason and they may not want the same thing to happen with Winston.

Everyone who understands football knows that Jameis Winston is a talented quarterback who needs to polish some things up.

If the Saints would have opted to go with Winston instead of Hill, Winston would have had multiple games to showcase his talents with a much more improved Saints team and could get rewarded for it financially following the 2020 season.

If this played a role in the decision-making process, all you can do is simply tip your cap to the Saints coaching staff for not only keeping Winston out of everyone else’s eyesight but also for scouting well enough to have two outstanding quarterback options behind Drew Brees.
