Jameis Winston

This one is fairly obvious. After he got into the game against the 49ers, it was assumed that Jameis Winston was going to be the starting quarterback for the Saints as the team prepared for life without Brees for yet a second regular season.

Winston didn’t see the field on Sunday as Hill played all 66 offensive snaps, taking his season total to 215. Winston, who was signed on a bargain deal this offseason for around $1.1 million, has seen 44 snaps this season.

There’s no denying Winston may still have a turnover problem, but he needed a chance. With Hill not having an interception while scoring twice on the ground, it doesn’t seem likely Winston will get time before Brees returns.

Hill ended with 233 yards and a quarterback rating of 68.2. He’ll be the easy decision moving forward as the experiment seemingly worked. Payton loves Hill and said he performed “well” in his first start.

Sadly, that means we won’t be seeing Winston for what appears to be the foreseeable future.
