The New Orleans Saints, unfortunately, placed quarterback Drew Brees on the Injured Reserve, which means he will be forced to miss at least the next three games with broken ribs and a collapsed lung.

In a corresponding move, the Saints opted to steal a veteran signal-caller away from the Tennessee Titans’ practice squad named Trevor Siemian. Siemian, 28, has been a decent backup in his NFL career thus far, but he certainly wasn’t signed to be a starting quarterback.

The signing of Siemian is strictly a move to play things safe in case Taysom Hill or Jameis Winston were to get injured.

Siemian was a highly coveted player by the Tennessee Titans, however, as they purposely kept him out of practices and team gatherings to ensure he was avoiding contracting COVID-19 to the best of his ability.

The fact that the Titans trusted him that much to come off the practice squad and potentially start if needed just shows how quickly Siemian must have picked up the Titans’ playbook and how much they trust him to take the reigns of the offense if needed.

Despite a rather difficult career for Siemian, the man isn’t all that bad at football unlike people tend to believe. Sure, he has his ups and downs, but he also hasn’t played for a truly good offense in his career either.

Siemian was drafted in the seventh round by the Denver Broncos back in 2015 and had a solid sophomore season with the team tossing 3,401 passing yards, 18 touchdowns, and ten interceptions.

After his three-season stint in Denver, he signed with the New York Jets where everyone knows how that played out. Siemian has completed 59.2 percent of his passes, thrown for 5,689 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 24 interceptions in his career.
