The Saints won their 7th game of the season against the 49ers, but it came at a cost……

This should have been another positive article about how some of the Saints’ top defensive players were finally breaking out, how Chauncey Gardner-Johnson wrecked havoc as a pass rusher; or how Deonte Harris has a key role in their offense.

Instead, we are left to wonder if the team should be panicking right now.

The quarterback position is the most important in the NFL, so even the smallest of downgrades can make a difference. Well, due to multiple cracked ribs and a collapsed lung, Drew Brees is going to miss at least 2-3 weeks, and the expectation is that he will be out for longer that.

What does this mean for the Saints? Can they still win the division and compete for the #1 seed with backup Jameis Winston under center?

That’ll be the focus on today’s article.

By the end, we will not only have a complete idea of what Winston will bring to the table, but also the value of Brees and head coach Sean Payton, in addition to analysis of the roster’s ability to overcome this loss.
