Jameis Winston is the Saints’ No. 2 quarterback.

There has been much debate over who, Taysom Hill and Jameis Winston, is the true No. 2 quarterback. Last year, it proved to be Teddy Bridgewater after Drew Brees missed five games, and he started every game that Brees’ missed.

When the team let Bridgewater go, Hill was arguably the best man up. However, then the team signed ex-Buccaneer quarterback Jameis Winston. Even after, people still thought that Hill was the true backup to Brees.

Until now.

Drew Brees took a bad hit at the end of the second quarter injuring his ribs. He came out into the third quarter and didn’t play the entire second half. In his place, Jameis Winston was Sean Payton’s next man up, not Taysom Hill.

In the two quarters that he played, Winston threw 6/10 on passes for 63 yards. He also took two sacks, but his “debut” as a Saint was definitely a good one. The debate is over, Jameis Winston is the heir to the Saints’ throne at quarterback.
