Liam Eichenberg – OT – Notre Dame

This pick is a little unconventional. If you remember, last year, the Saints wanted to move up in the third round. They ended up trading with the Cleveland Browns for their third-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. However, this isn’t their conventional third-round pick.

Last offseason, they lost quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and should be due for a third-round compensatory pick. That is where this third-round pick came from. In the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Saints shocked the world and drafted a center from Michigan.

They then released Larry Warford to save a chunk in their salary cap. However, that has left them with a serious lack of depth on the offensive line. Liam Eichenberg has been a stud at Notre Dame in his freshman year with the team.

Notre Dame has been a consistent factory of an offensive lineman over the years of Brian Kelly. This year should be no different. In fact, Eichenberg could quickly rise up the list into the second and maybe even the first round.
