Rookie Justin Herbert got the start for the Los Angeles Chargers in our first game of the second quarter of the season. His performance was decent, and he showed he’s got the potential to be a force in years to come.
Herbert hit the Saints defense for four TDs and 313 passing yards. The Chargers ran the first half, but the Saints dug in and found some life in the second half. Emmanuel Sanders showed up and showed out to the tune of 122 receiving yards.
The game was tied as the Chargers drove the ball down into potential FG range, but they missed a 50-yard game-winner as time ran out.
The Saints drove the ball down in OT but were stopped short of a TD, so they kicked the go-ahead FG. The Chargers had their opportunity but only made a first down by penalty, as the Saints defense found the right time to make a stand and come out on top 30-27.
