Number Two: Defensive Player of the Year

The New Orleans Saints I believe are likely surprised with the insane emergence of defensive end Trey Hendrickson, much like all of us Saints fans are. Hendrickson, if the season ended right now, should be the team’s Defensive Player of the Year.

Hendrickson has stepped up in a big way this season and has completely taken over as the team’s best defensive end opposite Cameron Jordan. Hendrickson, 25, is in the final year of his contract and is having the best season of his career.

He is currently third in the NFL in sacks to go along with his other great stats this season. Through just eight games, Hendrickson has tallied 18 tackles, eight tackles for a loss, 13 quarterback hits, 18 pressures, seven hurries, and 7.5 sacks.

Hendrickson has also produced those numbers while splitting snaps with Marcus Davenport and Carl Granderson. If Hendrickson continues to rack up these numbers, he will be well on his way to a big payday this offseason.
