Jameis Winston starts against his old team

Earlier this week, Drew Brees was seen on the injury report from Saints’ camp with a shoulder injury. He showed up Wednesday and was limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday. He returned to a full participant in practice on Friday.

Regardless, there was speculation that the next man up — Jameis Winston — would be suiting up as the starting quarterback tonight. However, the team has announced that Drew Brees will test out his shoulder in pre-game and is expected to start.

Expectancy is one thing, but we have to remember, Drew Brees’ shoulder is over 40-years old. There is still a good chance that Brees might not be able to go after warmups. Even if he does start, there is a good chance that Winston sees some action.

Brees might not make it through the game.

With a quarterback with this many years to his name, it is possible every game that he is taken out, and Winston will need to step in and be the replacement that the Saints know he can be against his old team.
