Stephon Gilmore, New England Patriots

Stephon Gilmore was a viable option for the New Orleans Saints. The secondary for the Saints is in need of work. With the injuries that have happened for the team, the Saints could use trading for another cornerback to add depth.

The Patriots ended up revealing the price that they had for Gilmore after the deadline. They wanted a first-round pick and a player in return. That actually isn’t that high for the former NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

The Saints could have given a 2021 or 2022 first-round pick and Patrick Robinson for Gilmore. That would have been a trade that I could see the front office doing that would make the Saints significantly better in the secondary and depth.

Most people think the price would have been too high, but I think the front office would have done it. Regardless the Saints missed their chance, and they will have to move forward with just Janoris Jenkins and Marhson Lattimore.

They also have Chauncey Garnder-Johnson, but he plays in the slot when he isn’t at the safety.
