The New Orleans Saints made one trade for a linebacker before the deadline, but they missed out on these three players that they could have made offers on.

The NFL trade deadline came to a close Tuesday. The New Orleans Saints were bound to make a move; it was just a question of what move they would make. This year, they targeted a linebacker for their defense from the San Francisco 49ers.

In the deal with the Niners, the Saints ended up giving a linebacker Kiko Alonso and a 2021 5th-round pick to the Niners in exchange for the star linebacker. Now, Alexander hasn’t played since Week 5 of this NFL season after suffering a high ankle sprain, but he will be a welcomed addition.

The Saints chose to not make any more moves besides this one. Some look at that and say that that was the best move. Others look at it and think they should have done more. I think they did just the right amount of dealing, but they should have been more sellers.

Just to play devil’s advocate though, there are some high-end players that the Saints missed out on because they chose not to trade for anyone else. Here are the top three players that the team missed out on.
