After the Saints made a deal with the 49ers for linebacker Kwon Alexander, they should now be considered as top Super Bowl favorites.

The NFL trade deadline is coming to a close today. The New Orleans Saints were bound to make a move; it was just a question of what move they would make. This year, they targeted a linebacker for their defense from the San Francisco 49ers.

In the deal with the Niners, the Saints ended up giving a linebacker Kiko Alonso and a 2021 5th-round pick to the Niners in exchange for the star linebacker. Now, Alexander hasn’t played since Week 5 of this NFL season after suffering a high ankle sprain.

The timeline of his return should be soon, and he will be a very welcomed part of the defense beside Demario Davis. Before he got injured, Alexander already racked up 30 tackles, three tackles for a loss, 1.0 sacks, a forced fumble, and a hit on the quarterback.

We’ve already talked about the linebacking corps being one of the weakest links on the team. Now, it might not be.

The Saints are once again proving why they are gearing up to make a deep run in the playoffs. With the addition of a key defensive piece, the Saints should consider themselves Super Bowl favorites from here on out, and here is why.
