Stephon Gilmore
The Patriots have just over a 20 percent chance at making the playoffs.
They have star power on their team, and it’s highly doubtful that they’re going to go on a full firesale with the trade deadline in a few days. One player they could get quite a bit for is reigning Defensive Player of the Year Stephon Gilmore.
With blown coverage after blown coverage, the Saints could use a star across from Marshon Lattimore. With most teams pushing three-receiver sets, Janoris Jenkins would slide to No. 3, and the Saints may then have the best secondary in the league.
The 6-foot-1 cornerback ended last season with a league-high 20 pass deflections.
Along with a career and league-high six interceptions, Gilmore has solidified himself as the league’s best cornerback, and while he may have a high price tag, the Saints don’t have many chances left with Drew Brees at the helm.
Saints Wire proposed Sheldon Rankins and 2022 third-round pick for Gilmore, a deal the team should consider. It’d give both sides something they need and be a huge positive trade for New Orleans.
