Number Two: Sheldon Rankins

Sheldon Rankins is a very solid defensive tackle for the New Orleans Saints, but the team likely won’t be able to bring him back at the end of the season anyway and his skills could be better fit with a different team.

Rankins is the most likely candidate to be dealt near the trade deadline. It will be interesting to see what the Saints can get for him. Rankins has had a solid stint with the Saints and his 2018 season put him on the map as one of the best defensive tackles in the entire NFL.

Unfortunately for Rankins, injuries have held him back into molding back into that player we all saw back in 2018. Now that Rankins is in a contract year and still only seeing about half of the Saints’ defensive snaps, it could be time to deal him for some draft picks.

Rankins has played in 56 games with the Saints recording 104 tackles, 24 tackles for a loss, 40 quarterback hits, 17 sacks, three forced fumbles, two passes defended, and one interception in that span.

If the Saints were to deal Rankins, they could probably get as high as a third-round pick for his services. More than likely an offer for Sheldon Rankins would look something like a fourth and sixth-round pick to the Saints for Rankins and a seventh-round pick.
