5 Saints that’ve proven to be expendable through NFL’s Week 6
Marcus Davenport
Marcus Davenport’s 2020 play has not been subpar, but he, on the other hand, finds his way on this list because his backup is playing at an extremely high level. Davenport has been sidelined with an injury, making his season debut against the Chargers in Week 5.
This injury has kept him out of the games up until last week. In those games where Davenport didn’t make an appearance, his backup, Trey Hendrickson, quietly leads the Saints in every edge-rushing stat on the team.
Hendrickson has played five games and racked up 4.5 sacks and 5.5 tackles for a loss. He leads the Saints in sacks by over two sacks. He leads the team in tackles for a loss by 1.5 from the second-place rusher.
If I was the Saints right now, I would keep riding the hot hand of Trey Hendrickson.
This is also only his fifth season in the league so he still has his prime in front of him. Depending on how Davenport and Jordan play out the rest of their season, Hendrickson might find himself a permanent starter.
