Malcom Brown

The 26-year-old former first-round pick, Brown hasn’t quite lived up to expectations. While he too has managed snaps in every game for New Orleans, Brown has recorded just ten tackles without a single sack, a quarterback hit, or tackle for loss.

He needs to be better, especially for what he’s being paid. Brown is in the second year of a 3-year, $15 million deal with the Saints. Sadly, cutting him really wouldn’t do much to help their cap space, so they’d have to deal at this point.

The former Longhorn does make an impact on the game, but with players like Shy Tuttle and Sheldon Rankins also able to tough it out in the middle of the line, the needs for Brown declines a bit.

While he’s not the most-paid player on the team, his contract does take a little bit from the cap and, for his contributions, should be noted.

Brown needs to be better, and while you can’t necessarily use tackles to gauge his importance, the team still need a bit more despite being a top run defense in the NFL. Also, it’s worthy to note cutting Brown, like with a few others, does little due to his contract setup.

That said, the Saints likely won’t part ways with any of them till the season is over but expect at least one not be on the roster next season.
