Adam Trautman – Rookie of the Year

There were not very many to choose from here. After they let Tommy Stevens go and sent him to the practice squad, they only retained three rookies from this year’s draft — tight end, Adam Trautman; offensive lineman, Cesar Ruiz; and linebacker, Zack Baun.

Typically, I would say that the first-round pick has the best chance at this award because they are the best player, but in this instance, Cesar Ruiz has only played one game this year in which he has started and played every offensive snap.

Trautman, who was a third-round pick, has only played in 20% of offensive snaps on the year thus far, but he has found himself a perfect 3-for-3 on targets and receptions for 32 yards. He is still yet to record his first touchdown.

I see great things in store for Trautman. He might not look like the rookie of the year right now, but by the end of the season, Trautman will be the clear best rookie drafted — especially if Ruiz can’t stay healthy all year.
