Jared Cook

Jared Cook had a stellar Week 1. He went for seven targets and five receptions, totaling 80 yards. Playing in just 65% of the snaps, Cook’s numbers were fantastic, and it looked like he’d picked up from where he left off last season.

While Cook did get in the end zone in Week 2, he had a mere two receptions for under 20 yards. He had just 21 yards in Week 3. Without Thomas, Cook’s production has taken a drastic dip and that should be worrisome.

With third-round draft pick tight end Adam Trautman on the roster, the Saints could deal cook and may have little side effects. He’s a mismatch nightmare, but Trautman may prove to be an elite option as well.

Trautman has played a mere 47 snaps on the season. Catching all three of his targets, Trautman has already proven that he can both catch and block well. But, can he be trusted to do it in volume amounts is the question.

If the answer is yes then the Saints can go ahead and field offers for Cook.
