The Saints defense can’t get it done.

If you would believe it, I have seen Saints’ fans trash the defense this year. They say that they can’t get it done after giving up a loss to the Las Vegas Raiders and allowing the Green Bay Packers to put up 37 points on Sunday night.

I have one thing to say, that is completely false. The defense might have given up 37 points, but they also forced them out on three drives. They sacked Rodgers once and hit him three times. They got three tackles behind the line of scrimmage, and they deflected a ball.

Those aren’t outstanding statistics, but they shouldn’t be judged on one game alone. If you remember back to Week 2, the defense is what kept the Saints in the game allowing the offense to win the game, and they failed.

Also, remember back to Week 1 where the defense picked off Tom Brady twice and once for a touchdown. This defense is not something to just give up on or immediately make the scapegoat for the loss. They will continue to play at a high level.

Cut the penalties, and they’ll be just fine moving forward.
