Going into Week 4, there are three major injury concerns that have plagued the New Orleans Saints that need to be answered; here’s an update.

Injuries have been a major concern for the New Orleans Saints over the course of the last couple of seasons. It all but devastated the linebacker position last season, to the point where they had to sign people off the free-agent market.

The injury bug has already reared it’s ugly head for the Saints again this year. In fact, it has bitten everyone. No superstar is safe, and Michael Thomas is no exception. Here is an update on the three major injury cases for the Saints.

Marcus Davenport

Marcus Davenport has yet to play a single snap for the Saints this season so far. Trey Hendrickson has done a fantastic job filling in for the injured edge rusher, but the black and gold could definitely use Davenport back sooner rather than later.

The good news is that Davenport transitioned from not practicing to limited practices in Thursday’s and Friday’s sessions last week. With a couple more limited practices and a couple of full practices, Davenport could be back to starting in Week 4.

Andrus Peat

Andrus Peat is a new addition to this list.

After the injury he suffered in training camp, I figured he would find his way back onto it. As of today, he has been diagnosed as a high-ankle sprain. The severity of the injury has not yet been released.

This comes on the heels of the Saints releasing yet another offensive lineman in Will Clapp. If Peat was to miss extensive time or continuing reinjuring this ankle, New Orleans could be down to just two or three replacements for the whole line.

Michael Thomas

After officially missing Week 3, there have been reports that Michael Thomas is eyeing a return in Week 4. This isn’t a shock considering the team didn’t put him on the injured reserve and shut him down for three weeks. They undoubtedly thought he’d come back before then.

Week 4 would be the third week. There is a good chance if we see him limited this week that he plays some snaps next week. If we see him get to a full participant in practice, Thomas will likely be a full go on Sunday against the Lions.
