Bench Taysom Hill — in every position

To me, it was a head-scratcher when the Saints put a first-round tender on restricted free agent Taysom Hill, but I understood why they would want to keep him for $4 million even though at the time I thought that was too much.

Then the front office went and signed Hill to a $20 million extension, and my mind was blown. Now, we are reaping the ramifications of that decision. Three weeks in and Hill has one pass for 38 yards; seven rushes for 27 yards; and two receptions for 15 yards.

He is also yet to find the endzone through three.

He is averaged the least yards per carrying on the team of anyone over two carries — even behind Deonte Harris. Besides for Michael Thomas who got injured, he is averaging the least yards per catch too.

The only reason he has a glimpse of a passing game is that the 38-yard pass was made possible by Alvin Kamara on a Drew Brees flea-flicker that found him wide open. There is really no stats through three weeks that would show any reason to continue to give Taysom 25% of snaps.

That’s also all without mentioning the game-sealing fumble he gave up in the loss to the Green Bay Packers last Sunday.
