Play more two TE sets

Through the first two games, without counting the one against Green Bay, Adam Trautman has played a max of 13% of snaps and averaged 11.5% on the year. However, Trautman has made the most out of his minimal field time.

Over the course of three games, Trautman has been targeted three times. He has pulled in all three targets for 34 yards. You might look at that and say it’s not much, but to me, I see the potential and a lot of it.

The Patriots made the two tight ends set known nationwide when they employed Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski. Since then, fans have been more noticeable when that set is being incorporated into their team’s offense.

Up until now, I wouldn’t say the Saints have had two good enough tight ends at one time to make this possible, but now might be that time. With Jared Cook thriving, Adam Trautman has a couple of games under his belt and should be seeing more than 13% of snaps.

Going into Week 4, the Saints need to figure out how to utilize Cook and Trautman at the same time.
