Mobility

The offensive line gives Drew Brees all the time he needs to make a throw. Sometimes, the throw is not there and Brees simply gets rid of the ball to live another down. That is a smart play for a non-mobile quarterback.

However, how often do you see Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes, or Kyler Murray throwing the ball away? That’s because they can get out in the open field and make tacklers miss. That is the future of the quarterback position.

It is a skill that Winston possesses, and while not at the level of those mentioned, he is a more agile quarterback than the 41-year-old Brees.

Throughout his time in Tampa Bay, Winston ran for over 100 yards in every single season topping 200 in three of the five seasons. Brees, on the other hand, has ran for over 100 yards in one season in his 20-year career.

The fire that would spark as a result of the offense might be enough to put it back into motion. A quarterback that can pick up extra yards with his feet instead of just throwing the ball away would provide more opportunities for offensive success.
