Vonn Bell

The Saints secondary this season is similar to the one that took the field in the team’s 2019 Wild Card game with the Vikings. The only player that entered free agents and ended up leaving was safety Vonn Bell.

The team brought Malcolm Jenkins, the Eagles’ safety and a former member of the Saints’ Super Bowl-winning team from 2009. Jenkins was a welcome addition, but it was hard to see Bell go as he’d become a fan favorite.

Bell took his talent to the now 0-2 Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals drew the Thursday night primetime matchup with the Browns. Bell recorded eight tackles in that game, seven of which were assisted.

Bell’s Bengals gave up over 30 points, hurting the team’s chances to get their first win of the season. It was strictly on Bell as the team’s front couldn’t stop running back Nick Chubb. However, big plays to Odell Beckham Jr. didn’t help Cincinnati.

For Bell, he played 100% of the team’s defensive snaps and has become a crucial member of the Bengals’ secondary.
