The Saints only have themselves to blame for a Monday Night Football loss in which they entered the game as heavy favorites.

After a terrific win on a nationally televised game in Week 1, the Saints entered their Week 2 matchup feeling good. They defeated the Tom Brady-led Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 1 by a score of 34-23.

This time, they were met by the Las Vegas Raiders, a team coming off a 34-30 victory over the Saints’ divisional foe, the Carolina Panthers. The Raiders’ running back Josh Jacobs scored three touchdowns in that game.

Despite the team putting up over 30 again, Jacobs did little damage, falling short of 100 yards and averaging under four yards per carry. However, the Saints couldn’t stop Darren Waller, who hauled in over 100 yards and a touchdown, recording 12 receptions on 16 targets.

He was the player that caused the most trouble in the team’s 10-point defeat. It was a tough outing in which the Saints, committing over 100 yards in penalities, killed themselves.

That said, let’s dive into which Saints won and which lost from the team’s discouraging Monday Night Football loss.
