Alexander (A.J.) Johnson, Denver Broncos

Alexander Johnson of the Denver Broncos was another linebacker that had a pretty good outing. He finished his first week of the year with eight solo tackles and four assisted tackles. He was all over the field for the Broncos.

He was also able to hit the quarterback once. He led all Broncos in tackles and was their best defensive player of the week. That was unexpected, but with a defense already down Vonn Miller, someone had to step up.

The Saints could use getting Johnson to fill in. If they had a better linebacker they could switch their packages back from using D.J. Swearinger for most of the game to more three linebacker sets.

He also shouldn’t cost them too much in a trade.

Don’t let this post take away from the fact that the Saints utterly demolished the Buccaneers in Week 1 — dismantling them. It should’ve been a 20-point game that finished with an 11-point margin.

However, for them to be truly elite, they will need to add better linebackers to secure up that defense.
