The Saints give the first sight at the backup QB race.

The race for the backup quarterback spot is something that all Saints fans have had their eye on this training camp season. Last year, Teddy Bridgewater and Taysom Hill handled the backup duties with most of the work going to Bridgewater.

After his departure, the Saints brought in Jameis Winston, who was let walk by the Buccaneers after they signed Tom Brady. The former league passing leader replaces Teddy Bridgewater on the Saints roster this year.

Like most, I thought that Winston would be the clear No. 2 quarterback, but on the Saints’ first unofficial depth chart, the team lists Taysom Hill as the No. 2 to Drew Brees with Winston coming in at No. 3.

While that might be the case, the amount of work that will be divided out should Drew Brees fall to injury might be different. Even if Hill is listed as Brees’ replacement, I still think that Winston, like Bridgewater, gets most of the work in the event of an injury.

It’ll be interesting if the 41-year-old goes down at any point (let’s hope he doesn’t!).
