Taysom Hill > Jameis Winston

Taysom Hill got a massive two-year contract after having a first-round tender slapped on his restricted free agent tag.

Hill likely wouldn’t have been used elsewhere as he has been in New Orleans. They know how to craft his versatility to maximize his talents. However, Hill being a franchise quarterback is a completely different story.

Being in front of the league’s 2019 leader in passing yards is an even different story. Winston should the No. 2 quarterback on the roster, and if Drew Brees goes down as he did in 2019, I’d still expect Winston to be the first off the bench.

While Hill may have the drive and arm to be a starting quarterback, he doesn’t have the experience. We don’t know how great he’d do when planned for as the primary threat either. Winston was the focal point of a Buccaneers offense that relied on the passing game last year.

The experience alone makes it shocking that Winston is the third-string quarterback. Just the sound of that sentence showcases the depth New Orleans has this season at the most important position on the roster.
