The Saints’ defense is ranked No. in the NFL.

According to PFF, the Saints’ front line ranks No. 13 in the NFL. This surprises me, especially since Cameron Jordan finished with over 15 sacks last year. However, the line did see quite a bit of injury which led to a downgrade.

The Saints’ secondary ranks No. 6 in the NFL, according to PFF. This doesn’t surprise me very much. Last year, I harped on how bad the Saints secondary was after Eli Apple continued to let up deep ball after deep ball.

This year, they added Malcolm Jenkins and all have another year underneath their belt.

Now, PFF does not give rankings for full defenses, but because they give us these two, we are just going to take the two and average them out to find where the defense should be ranked. In this instance, the average out would be 9.5 or 10.

Either way, New Orleans is ranked with a top 10 defense. We already knew the offense and special teams would be better than the defense, but the fact that the defense cracked the top ten means the Saints are in for a special year.

For the sake of another ranking, Lineup ranks the Saints defense at No. 11 — so very similar.
