Dede Westbrook

The New Orleans Saints went out and got Emmanuel Sanders to help with their wide receiver needs, but the team needs to move on from Tre’Quan Smith and this is the perfect opportunity to do just that.

For this instance, the Saints should trade for Westbrook and release Smith. That would open up the cap space to be able to handle Westbrook and maybe sign him long term. The third-year receiver had over 60 receptions and 500 yards for the Jaguars last year.

If he could do that with Gardner Minshew, imagine what he could do with Drew Brees. Westbrook also presents something that Thomas and Sanders don’t and that is immense speed. Westbrook gets down the field and fast.

Neither Sanders nor Thomas are really known for breaking down the sideline and getting behind the defense. If the Saints had a player line up that could do that, the opportunities would flourish for Thomas and Sanders.

Opposing defenses wouldn’t know what to do with the three of them. Tre’Quan Smith has had his opportunity, and it is long gone. It is time they move on, and now is that time.
