Latavius Murray will be forced into more touches

Latavius Murray is the foremost backup to Alvin Kamara. If Kamara were to miss any time due to this potential contract hold-out, Murray would be the first one up. His production would likely increase to that of a top 15 running back.

Latavius Murray filled in for Kamara last year when the star running back missed two games with an injury. Murray did well rushing for over 100 yards in both of the games that he started and saw over 20 carries in.

Latavius Murray would be a great replacement starter. However, there are still at least two major unknowns with Murray. One, it is not proven that Murray can handle the workload in the Saints backfield by himself for 16 games.

Two, Murray is a great downhill running back. He runs between the tackles and bursts through the holes. Murray is not the best in the open field nor in the passing game which the Saints like to utilize so much.

With Ty Montgomery in the mix, Sean Payton would have a plethora of options between the two.
