The Saints may have to play him this season now

We just discussed that he may make his way into the division where the Saints would have to play him twice in this upcoming season. Even if he doesn’t come into the division, there is still a possibility that he goes to a team outside of the division that the Saints still have to play.

The Saints have a pretty loaded schedule outside of the division this year. Green Bay, Kansas City, San Francisco, Minnesota, and Philadelphia are all teams they are going to see at some point this season — but not all of them need running backs.

Realistically, there are five or six teams that have enough cap space and need to make a play on Fournette and could actually get the attention of Fournette. He will likely look to be brought on by a contender.

The Saints would then have to adjust their play style on the defense to account for a guy who could easily explode for over 100 yards and a pair of touchdowns despite having a disappointing season in 2019.

Assuming he stays healthy, Fournette could be a top ten running back at his peak. That is a game-changer when you a scheming and planning the defense. The Saints should be waiting to see where he lands and if they will see him.
