With the news of the Jacksonville Jaguars releasing former first-round pick Leonard Fournette, what impact could that have on the Saints’ season?

The NFL is gearing up for the season, the teams, including the Saints, are in the final weeks of their training camps getting ready for week one on September 13th. Fantasy drafts are in full swing as well.

In major news that you typically don’t see right before the start of a season, the Jacksonville Jaguars released former first-round pick Leonard Fournette. Earlier this offseason, they were taking trade offers for the running back.

Apparently, they didn’t get any offers. In response, they decided to release him rather than pay him.

This news also came just one day after they traded Yannick Ngakoue to Minnesota. The Jaguars must be in rebuilding mode, knowing they weren’t wanting to pay Fournette at the end of his rookie deal.

However, this news of Fournette being released is going to have an impact on the Saints. In fact, there are three specific ways that this release could be impactful to the team in the near future or at least some point this season.

Here are the three of them.
