The Jenkins continuing in their respective prime

The Saints, combining the last few weeks of the 2019 season and the 2020 offseason, brought in two Jenkins, both of which are arguably past their prime. However, both will have pivotal roles within the team’s defense, a unit with top-five potential.

Janoris Jenkins, the team’s second-string cornerback, is 31 and will be 32 before November.

Malcolm Jenkins, who signed a four-year contract with the team this offseason, is already 32. Jenkins has been a model of consistency over the last several seasons of his career. His stability as a reliable player is a huge plus for the team.

Both players are likely to play 16 games barring any injury, but the duo playing up to the Saints high standards will be necessary for the team’s success. It’s tough to predict how they’ll play in 2020, but if they thrive, this team will have a dominant secondary.

If the team stays relatively healthy and age doesn’t hurt for players like Brees or either of the Jenkins, the Saints should finally secure a first-round bye in the playoffs next season.
