Tre’Quan Smith

I feel like far too often I am here talking about how Tre’Quan Smith needs to improve. All last year, we were shaming him for his lack of production and injury history over the last couple of seasons. Well, here we are again.

Throughout the first part of training camp, we haven’t heard much from Tre’Quan Smith. Now, most of the time, I would say that’s a good thing — but this time it’s the problem. We have heard the news from Bennie Fowler and Emmanuel Butler.

Assuming that the Saints keep five receivers again on the roster, Michael Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders are a lock. Deonte Harris is also a lock because of his special team roles. Then, the team is forced to keep two of Smith, Fowler, Butler, Humphrey, Carr, and Callaway.

Everyone is expecting them to keep Tre’Quan Smith and rightfully so, but that is going to make them drop either Fowler or Butler who has had great training camps. Smith better prove to the team, in what might be his last opportunity to do so, that he is worth a roster spot.
