Taysom Hill

The Saints brought in Jameis Winston this offseason and gave Taysom Hill two more years on his contract. They will be battling for the backup quarterback role, one that should eventually be won out by Hill.

Neither may get a chance to show what they’ve got in the regular season though. Brees missed five games in 2019. Before last season, he had notched at least 15 games in every season since 2004.

While we may get a garbage game at the end of the season, if the league makes it that far, it’s unlikely that Brees will miss any time given his history. The preseason may have been the time for fans to see that Hill is capable of passing at an elite level.

Everyone knows Winston can throw at a high level as he tossed for a league-high in passing yards and was the only quarterback to eclipse 5,000, hitting over 5,100. However, he also led the league in interceptions.

We wanted to see Hill, who has under 15 pass attempts on his career, drop back more often, and the preseason would’ve been the perfect time to showcase his improvements. He missed out, as did fans.
