Potential trade

If for some reason the Saints decide that they would rather keep Jenkins and Thomas, the team could offer another playoff-contending team Thomas or Jenkins in a trade. Now, the actual draft pick can be tricky to determine.

The Saints need to at least feel like they got something for the veteran safety, but the Saints don’t want to feel like they’ve given up a key piece too early. The Saints have the advantage in this situation though.

The pick then needs to be at least a fourth-rounder. That would be the round I think wouldn’t hurt another team but give the Saints a pick in a round they’ve shown immense success in the past.

Then it would be a win-win situation for everyone involved in the trade.

With Williams and Thomas or Thomas and Jenkins, the Saints would still have an elite duo monitoring the secondary. With Williams needing a new deal, adding Thomas for multiple seasons could be a win for the long-term future if it’s a team-friendly deal.
