Tre’Quan Smith

Tre’Quan Smith is a player that the Saints have been waiting to develop for a couple of years now. Whether due to injury or lack of talent, Smith has not panned out who they thought they were getting when they drafted him.

Nonetheless, the Saints are still set on developing him. Payton is hoping that the next season is going to be his big break and the team will have found a treasure. Last season, they went through the same thing.

Smith played in a few games before being bit by the injury bug — again.

So far, we have not seen or heard much out of Tre’Quan Smith in training camp other than a video of him catching a ball from Jameis Winston where Winston received the praise for the video. I think that we might be set for another year in the rotation.

Luckily, this season the Saints are not relying on him as the No. 2 receiver. Emmanuel Sanders has come in and will take that role. Maybe that will give Smith the time he needs to develop, but thus far we haven’t seen what we would like to see out of the young receiver.

In fact, we’ve seen more out of receivers below him on the depth chart that might soon pass him.
