Focus on other deals this offseason

The Saints will be dealing with several contracts at one time this offseason.

They load the NFL’s free agency market single-handedly. Demario Davis, one of the NFL’s best linebackers, is one of the several players that’ll be up for potentially a historic contract. Figuring out the individual situations before the offseason will be crucial.

General manager Mickey Loomis will have to prioritize. With Latavius Murray behind Kamara, one could argue that bringing back Davis is more important than lengthening Kamara’s deal.

Whether that’s true or not, the Saints will be dealing with P.J. Williams, Jared Cook, Marcus Williams, Sheldon Rankins, Kiko Alonso, Alex Anzalone, and Jameis Winston also needing brand new deals.

They’ll all be eating up cap space, and the Saints will have to prioritize. Talking an extension means they may lose out on some of these prospects, and knowing that, it may be easier to prepare for the future throughout the season.
