Last season, Michael Thomas was unstoppable. The superstar wide receiver broke Saints’ records and an NFL record in receptions in a single season with 149. Marvin Harrison previously held the record with 144 in a single season.

He was the favorite target of Drew Brees and will continue to be this year. He made a living in the middle of the field using his route-running skills to create separation and open a big window for Brees to deliver the ball into his numbers.

As you can see in the video above, Thomas’ route-running skills have only increased. In the video, he pulls a two-step move and loses his defender spinning in circles. Thomas is intricate with his footwork and that is what makes him one of the best.

I would love to see Thomas break off down the field more and utilize his long legs and speed more this season. With Emmanuel Sanders on the roster now, Thomas should be able to get open more and balance out the defensive scheme.
