Sean Payton is an offensive mastermind

Sean Payton is one of the best coaches in the NFL when it comes to the team’s offense. He, himself, used to be an offensive coordinator and play-caller for the New York Giants from 2000-2002. He also spent time as a quarterback coach from 1997-1999.

He has been the head coach of the Saints now for almost 16 years. Combine that with his other experience and you are talking about an offensive coach with 22 years of experience. In those 16 years as an OC/HC, he made the most out of his offensive teams.

He has coached a top-five NFL offensive 10 times in those 16 years. Over half of his career, he has led teams to have a top 5 offense. He has coached a top 10 offense 15 times in 16 years. In only one year in Payton’s career has he not coach a team to a top 10 offense.

He is 131-77 as a head coach or offensive coordinator. Honestly, the numbers speak for themselves. Sean Payton has and will always be a mastermind in the offense. A coach who is almost solidified a Hall-of-Fame spot will coach another top 5 offense this year.
