Emmanuel Butler

Michael Thomas has the No. 1 spot locked up. Emmanuel Sander is a strong contender for the No. 2 receiver. The No. 3 slot, on the other hand, is up in the air between Tre’Quan Smith, Bennie Fowler, Deonte Harris, and Emmanuel Butler.

Emmanuel Butler was the MVP of the first day of training camp in pads. He was seen catching bombs from Jameis Winston (seen below), Taysom Hill, and Drew Brees. He could be a strong contender for the No. 3 slot that no one knew about.

For over a year, the Saints have been hoping to develop Tre’Quan Smith, but maybe it is Emmanuel Butler who should be commanding the attention of the Saints coaches. He definitely did his best in this first practice to warrant a closer look going forward.

These three players are the best of the standouts on the first day of camp in pads. As the team moves forward and training camp gets more intense, these players will continue to perform and get spots on this year’s roster.
