There is too much cheaper talent

Alvin Kamara’s contract is up at the end of the season. That means that Kamara is going to be competing with the other free agent running backs in next year’s market. That could be a detriment to the Saints signing Kamara.

We already told you that Kamara’s market value is $14.9 million. Now, here are the names in the free-agent market that have a market value LESS than Alvin Kamara — Vikings’ Dalvin Cook, Bengals’ Joe Mixon, Packers’ Aaron Jones, 49ers’ Matt Breida, and Broncos’ Philip Lindsay.

I just listed five running backs that the Saints could sign for less money than they would need for Kamara that in the switch the production would not be too much less than what Kamara is currently doing for the team.

Most of those players are from the absolutely loaded 2017 draft class. A running back class like few before it, many, like Kamara, will need new contract and the desire to pay an injury-prone position is little.

With that much talent in the market, the Saints will have their choice of running backs if they choose to let another team pay Kamara the massive amount of money he will want. That is reason No. 1 that the Saints will not overpay for Alvin Kamara.
