Tre’Quan Smith

The New Orleans Saints have seen Tre’Quan Smith’s potential.

They’ve just not been able to get it consistently. In 2018, his rookie season, Smith had an outing against the Eagles were he went for over 150 yards and a touchdown. Sadly, just about double, that was his entire total for the 2019 season.

Smith, a former third-round pick, just hasn’t lived up to expectations, and most of his struggles have been due to injury. The Saints, with such a loaded receiving corps, can’t hold out forever.

Bennie Fowler, who joined after working out with now-Saint Emmanuel Sanders, will be a factor for this offense.

With Deonte Harris and Michael Thomas on the roster as well, Fowler will compete for that No. 3 spot. Fowler’s best season was in 2018 when he totaled 350 yards, playing in all 16 games and starting just four.

Next. 3 Saints that’ll undoubtedly be on the hot seat. dark

Fowler has what it takes, and given Smith’s record of injuries, this is a likely switch as Fowler can take over as the No. 3 receiver.
