Cameron Jordan

Enough with the offense, let’s get to why the Saints defense is so talented. The most irreplaceable defender on the roster is a defensive end, Cameron Jordan. Paired with Marcus Davenport, they are a deadly combination.

One of the main objectives for the defense is to get the ball back for the offense. They do that is a plethora of ways — intercepting the ball, making the offense go three and out, forcing and recovering a fumble, and so on.

All of those, though, start with getting pressure on the leader of the offense, the quarterback. That is the sole job of the defensive end — disrupt the quarterback — and if there is one thing that Cameron Jordan does well, it is getting to the quarterback.

Last season, Jordan recorded 15.5 sacks, a career-high, and 25 hits on the quarterback. That is what led him to his fifth Pro-Bowl appearance, and that is what makes him irreplaceable to the 2020 New Orleans Saints roster.
