The Saints have been graced by Alvin Kamara for three seasons, and as he’s primed for a new deal, let’s remember why fans should be thankful for him.

The New Orleans Saints 2017 draft completely changed the franchise.

They added Marshon Lattimore and Ryan Ramczyk in the first round.

Ramczyk has become one of the league’s best tackles and was half of PFF’s best-rated tackle duo. As for Lattimore, he had a stellar rookie season, showing his high-level potential. While last season may not have been his best, Lattimore is primed for another terrific season in 2020.

Then, in the second round, the team took Marcus Williams. A starting safety and a top 25 under-25 player, Williams has thrived in the secondary. Then we get to the third round. The Saints have three third-round picks with the most notable being Alvin Kamara.

Kamara has been a key force in the Saints offense for the last three seasons, averaging over 1,400 all-purpose yards. Kamara, and others in this draft class, will face the reality that they’ll need a new contract with a potentially declining salary cap.

That said, whether a deal gets done before the season or not, fans should be thankful for Kamara and what he’s mean to the Big Easy. Here’s why.
