They have an uber-talented scouting department

There’s no denying the New Orleans Saints may see several high-profile players leave. That’s why I even started to write about their sustained success.

Facing cap uncertainties, the team’s scouting department should give fans hope. I’d say over the last four years the Saints have one draft pick selected in the first three rounds that hasn’t exceeded expectations.

That would be Trey Hendrickson, a defensive end that has just a handful of starts. Even Alex Anzalone and Tre’Quan Smith may be taken against after dealing with nagging injuries to start their career.

Aside from them and excluding first-round picks, the team has found Zack Baun, Erik McCoy, Marcus Williams, and Alvin Kamara. Ryan Ramczyk, Marshon Lattimore, and Marcus Davenport have been their first-round picks.

That’s seven starters right there. The Saints have thrived because of their drafting, and there’s no reason to believe even if they lose a few top-tier players they can’t replace them with Day 2 picks as they’ve shown a capability at doing.

Next. 3 Saints that’ll undoubtedly be on the hot seat in 2020. dark

Is it ideal? No. Is it a reason to believe this team can sustain success? Yes.
