Nick Easton

Nick Easton is already a backup on the team’s stellar, but he’s one of just several players they may move on from if he doesn’t have a solid 2020. A free agent in 2023, Easton could easily go elsewhere and become a starter.

Easton is entering his fourth season in the league, having played in ten games last season, starting six. He played well, filling in the gaps for the team’s injury-ridden offensive line last year. Easton is a versatile lineman, playing both guard and center.

Making $5.5 million in 2021 and $7 million in 2022 with a cap hit that doesn’t exceed $1 million in either year, if Easton’s value dwindles, the savings would clearly be enough for the team to just cut ties with him.

However, as he’s shown before, Easton is valuable as a backup. Andrus Peat and Terron Armstead have both struggled with injury so having a player of his caliber is important. But, just how important is it for New Orleans will be the question.
