Tre’Quan Smith

Tre’Quan Smith was drafted in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He had one dominant performance his rookie season against the Eagles where he totaled double-digit receptions and over 100 yards, also collecting a touchdown.

Aside from that, Smith has largely disappointed in his short NFL career. He’ll be entering his third season in the league this year, and if he doesn’t become a capable third-string receiver, he could easily be released or traded.

Smith put up under 300 yards last season. He was targeted a mere 25 times, struggling to stay on the field for the bulk of the season. His saving grace is that he did score a touchdown on one-fifth of his targets, totaling five endzone grabs on 18 receptions.

The 6-foot-2 injury-prone receiver has the attributes to be a star, but he must put it all together in 2020 in order to maintain a spot. He’s been kept on due to his high ceiling so far, and the Saints clearly still believe he could thrive in the NFL.

But, there’s no doubt the clock is ticking.
