Tommy Stevens

Tommy Stevens was the team’s seventh-round pick. The Mississippi State and Penn State alum is entering the NFL with Taysom Hill-like expectations as he’s more of a do-it-all quarterback than a traditional pocket passer.

Stevens provides many attributes to the Saints offense. The most useful will be his versatility.

He, like Hill, can play quarterback, running back or line up as a receiver. He can do everything, but the problem is the Saints already have a player like that. His name is Taysom Hill, and he’ll be under contract for two more seasons.

Along those lines, the Saints could be grooming Hill to replace Drew Brees; therefore, they’d need to replace Hill.

That said, Jameis Winston and Drew Brees are locks to crack the final 53-man roster, but Stevens, who still has to prove himself and can’t quite do that without preseason games, may struggle to find his space in a loaded quarterback room.
